There may be a smattering of Corinthian columns and a specialty cocktail called the “Julius Caesar,” but Forum is more Rat Pack supper-club than the Caesar’s Palace of Union Square. The feeble Roman-themed gestures are happily forgotten with an eclectic menu, heavy on tapas. Jagged white-stone walls loom over a stretch of dark-wood four-top tables, while a D.J. booth blends unassumingly into a back corner. Velvet-rope etiquette kicks in after midnight, when well-groomed cosmopolitan professionals sip $8 cocktails and mingle by loungy leather sofas—or take to dancing under a tastefully shifting lighting system.
