It's a long walk to the end of the old oak bar since the 45-foot-long countertop almost stretches the full length of the establishment. And as the flat screens on exposed brick suggest, this authentic Irish pub doubles as a sports bar, too. Like most Irish pubs, Gael Pub sticks to what works: Guinness, specialty beers (15 bottled and 10 draft), and top-shelf Irish whiskeys such as Bushmills Black Bush, Tullamore Dew, and Michael Collins. One other preconception to leave at the door: With all due respect to Notre Dame, this clientele is more loyal to the Chicago Bears.
