Profile

The true glory of the Gate is its proximity to Prospect Park. After playing football for a couple of hours, stumble a few blocks downhill for some reconstructive surgery in the form of a pint, maybe a whiskey (an impressive array of both are available). By the time your body completely stiffens up on you, you'll be numb and happy in the cozy, tavern-like room. Or, split a pitcher with your teammates on the Gate's space-doubling outdoor patio. And feel free to stay deep into the evening if you think you're young enough to fit in with the flirty crew who call the place home.

incompetent bartender

After waiting what felt like an eternity for the young male bartender to finish his conversation, I asked him for a light beer and he knew nothing. He was cocky, and impatient. Felt like I was bothering him.

Good neighborhood bar

Went here for the first time last night and will definitely go back. It was pretty busy, but not so packed that you couldn't move. Laid back vibe, mostly young people (recent college grad type crowd) just chilling, drinking, talking. And drinks are cheap! $5 for a good size cocktail.
