Profile

Lounge lizards may curse the never-ending mid-century modern mania (how many oh-so-elegant minimalist boites does one city need?). But Glass suggests that the possibilities of streamlined style and space-age design have not been exhausted just yet. Glass is a curved plastic pod—a little bit Sleeper, a little bit 2001—with one end of the bar opening onto a small courtyard with bamboo trees illuminated by neon lights. The establishment opened in June 2001, and it’s still finding its crowd: Wallpaper* subscribers, Chelsea boys, and girls in transit to Bungalow 8 all rub shoulders and vie for space on ultra leather banquettes running the length of the room.

Extra

Smokers can seek haven in their newly enlarged outdoor patio.
