The lowdown

This lounge from the owners of Cain and a former GM at Lotus doubles down on the gold theme: There are gold skulls embedded in the walls, gold chains separating the rooms (bar with captain’s chairs up front, banquettes in back, capacity around 150), gold ceilings, and golden “love bracelets” for drinks tables. A series of mock oil paintings on the walls depict GoldBar power players. The foyer and the DJ booth are decorated with murals by artist Kurtis Culig. The running theme of the cocktails is gold, too, and it works remarkably well. For heft, try the muscular Gold Rush (bourbon, honey, and lemon); for a softer sip, the smooth and sweet Lavender Kiss (gin, lavender bitters, lemon juice, Champagne). Is it worth repeat visits? Partying down inside a melted Krugerrand on a regular basis might be a bit much for anyone other than Lindsay Lohan.
