Across the street from Washington Commons, a beer bar with a largely non-native Brooklyn crowd, is Half Court, a sports bar catering to the more tenured Prospect Heights citizenry. The façade, with its barred windows and clip-art-esque awning sign, is uninviting, but inside it’s surprisingly nice; the space is split in two, with the bar and stool section on the left, and the small-table and big-TV section on the right (although flat-screens are littered throughout). Your standard beer options are on tap, including Coors, Guinness, and Sam Adams (beer advertising paraphernalia is also predictably scattered as décor, although not nauseatingly so). The dim lighting and unhurried vibe give Half Court an unexpected touch of class for a sports bar; the fish tank doesn’t hurt, either.
