Identity was formerly known as Anatomy, a transition which should appeal to gender studies majors. Unfortunately for them, the name change had less to do with Judith Butler and more to do with keeping up with an increasingly moneyed neighborhood, which this formerly divey local has accomplished by installing sleek, sharp-edged furniture, a big backlit bar, two enormous flat-screen TVs, and DJs spinning house and R&B. While most of the patrons wear buttoned-down shirts (guys) or tank tops (girls), down-at-heel Anatomy regulars can still feel at home at the pool table in the basement. Every month, a different artist's work covers the walls both upstairs and down. Like everything else here, the art is often well-executed, but just slightly out of place.
