It's not really hip enough to be a Ludlow Street mainstay and it's not really lived-in enough to be a true Irish pub—but that's where it sits and what it purportedly is. In the midst of the self-consciously hip Lower East Side, the less-than-fabulous Iggy's feels a bit out of place, though that will be seen by many folks as a plus. No one's posing for anything here. And while the bar's Irishness may at first glance seem like a put-on, the appearance of the Irish owner quickly puts suspicions about cultural authenticity to rest. — Charles Runnette
