When it opened, Il Posto Accanto mainly seemed to be a waiting room for perpetually hopping neighbor Il Bagatto (they share an owner, after all). But this ambitious little enoteca came into its own (some would say even outshining its older sibling) in a matter of months. Amore is in the air, with fresh flowers, silver candelabra atop a rustic communal table and a menu of sensual Italian appetizers. Dozens of Italian reds, whites and a few rosés can be ordered by the bottle, carafe, half-carafe or glass. Prices, unfortunately, could be gentler, especially in light of the bargains next door. — Jenifer Van Vleck

After two recent visits to New York il posto accanto has a special place in my mind...and heart. Yes,you can literally fall in love with this "local" eaterie on east 2nd street. Its a warm inviting little space with lowlit candles and a small plates menu of sumptuos Italian dishes. The wine choice was superb with a few hidden surprises explained as we ordered by Davis,the manager ,who is knowledgable but still gives you the feeling that we could be dining at his own home....very unassuming with a warm approach. I would go back for this service alone. But enough....you just have to go.... cheers Il Posto. see you soon.
