|Okayplayer Presents: Shouting at the Screen with Wyatt Cenac and Donwill|
A cinephile’s dream tucked away in Williamsburg, (and next door neighbor to DIY music venue 285 Kent), indieScreen’s glowing electric blue sign directs you to a space where you can watch a flick (typically two or three acclaimed independent films are showing at different times, but the theater itself has only one screening room) or just booze it up at the bar. The industrial space opens to multiple levels with décor that could come from a scene in Blade Runner with a Russian twist. Grab a reasonably priced drink that’s served in a theater-friendly plastic cup and make your way to one of the various seating areas, whether that’s right at the straight-outta-the-‘80s lit up bar or one of the cozy booths. Or you can just head into the screening room which, although smaller than your average AMC monstrosity, offers a smaller, classic-style feel perfect for your viewing pleasure.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
