'inoteca is a rare find; each glass of wine at this homey wine bar feels as though it was poured, and perhaps bought, with you in mind. And those who feel intimidated by the average wine bar—the short of cash and wine-ignorant—need not worry. Each bottle on the menu is chosen with an eye towards the cheap (with an surprisingly small mark-up, good glasses of wine range between $7 and $20, and the average bottle costs about $40) and a knowledgeable staff can certainly help you choose the perfect libation. A completely Italian wine list and menu, dimmed lighting, wood paneled walls and shelves overflowing with wine bottles make this venue feel like a cross between a Tuscan restaurant and a ski lodge. A subterranean level is great for larger parties. Late at night the music gets louder and the place fills with people who enjoy sipping and talking about wine. Don't expect shots of tequila here—this bar is almost completely about wine, with one beer on tap. A homemade, ever-changing aperitif (a mix of dry and sweet vermouth and fresh seasonal fruits) goes down smooth and provides the perfect starter to an enjoyable (albeit tipsy) evening.
