Stuck between tall tenements on an off-ramp of the Williamsburg Bridge, I.V. 270 is an inconspicuous bungalow with a facade by Garden State Brickface and Stucco. It’s easy to miss. Inside, the thruway theme is kept alive: the decor seems intended to cater to those who’ve just driven over from New Jersey or Long Island. It’s all very Cocktail meets The Sopranos, with lots of blue lighting to make the chrome railings and mirror behind the bar gleam. That tacky decor is a welcome form of old-skool Brooklyn, though the club has managed to attract a steady stream of Manhattan DJs (including those who really live in the 718). Weekend nights can get crowded enough to require bouncers with those Rent headsets. There’s also a queer night every Sunday and a rock night on Mondays.
