Profile

Nothing can keep devoted fans of Jeremy's Ale House away from its 32-ounce Styrofoam buckets of beer, which keep the copious suds remarkably cold from start to finish. So in June 2004, when Jeremy's relocated from its old warehouse on 254 Front Street to equally spacious, if not exactly improved, digs down the block, the fishermen, finance kids, and construction workers followed. The move marks Jeremy's fifth South Street Seaport location (its fourth on Front Street) since opening in 1974. "I call it 'the oldest established permanent floating saloon in New York,'" laughs owner Jeremy Holin. Also along for the ride: Fried clams bordering on bar-food perfection, the famed "Eye Opener" special (8 a.m.–10 a.m.; $1.75 buckets of Coors), and the sign reading, "At Jeremy's Ale House, you always get a little head."

Underrated Burger

Jeremy's has always been known as a great place to meet friends or sit in the corner and drink your troubles away. Their 32oz styrofoam buckets of beer and fried calamari are well know. I also think they have the most underrated burger in the city. It is definitely up there with the usual suspects, Corner Bistro, Burger Joint, J.G Mellons, etc. The well sized patty is completed by a soft sourdough bun and a $6.00 bacon cheesburger, fries included can't be beat.

Great place

I went here on a quiet Sunday lunchtime so couldn't tell you what it's like when packed, but I had a great time. The place is so interesting to look around. Bras hanging from the ceiling and the ceiling tiles decorated with drinkers' messages. Just a fun place with good beer and friendly staff. Highly recommended...
