A far cry from its local Irish brethren, the Scottish pub Caledonia is a small, serene drinking spot. A cozy red window seat fills the glassed-in front, while the staff serves up a fine selection of Scottish brews like Innis & Gunn and Bellhaven and, yes, lots of Scotches. The sleek black bar features a working vintage cash register and stands out against the white-painted bricks, giving the petite space an airy vibe. The opposite wall is dark wood paneling, with strategically placed sconces for light and nooks for drinks. If you've got a big group (or feel like canoodling), there's a charming back corner with red couches and coordinated gray pillows, plus three flat screens and a black, bricked-over fireplace.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
