A striped awning and checkered tablecloths may be Luke's most distinguishing features. Yet this pub-and-grub familiarity proves winsome as juicy burgers, BLTs, and Cobb salads feed congenial locals of the J. Crew cable knit sweater variety. Sports flickering on three muted TVs; hummable tunes by the likes of Maroon 5 and Coldplay—neither calls for a raised voice. To the contrary, the black-and-white cityscape photos, the dark mahogany paneled walls and the lantern-like sconces bespeak of calm. As to the stock of notable draft beers (Warsteiner, Brooklyn Lager, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale), it tends to overrule the wine and martini alternatives. But when it gets late and the kitchen winds down, dining tables are pushed aside, the grill shifts into tavern mode, and regulars begin straggling up to the small, sometimes congested bar for a nightcap.
