Profile

At some exclusively hip lounges, patrons are made aware at every turn that they're paying for the privilege of hanging out in someone else's space. At King Size, however, you definitely feel as though you were invited to an ultracool house party. Though the name is meant ironically—if anything, each of this bar's railroaded three rooms is about the size of a king sized mattress–owner Danny Millan manages to distill a larger space's ambition down to its super-concentrated essence. Bright, lushly upholstered seating and jungle-patterned green murals by renowned graffiti artist Lee Quinones establish a vibrant mood which experienced turntablists reinforce with hip-hop, reggae amd funk. The drink menu likewise emphasizes the bold with seasonally-rotating choices. While blinged out young ladies and backpack hip-hoppers vie for the semi-private nook in back, Millan weaves through the crowd all evening, making sure everyone's happy. After all, a host must take care of his guests.

Great little spot further south than your used to going on essex but well worth it. Great DJ (I think they have a different one every night) and moderatly priced drinks.
