The Chelsea nightclub Ultra has been redesigned (no more VIP “tree house”) and reopened, complete with snow machines (!), as the B&T sophisticate dance spot La Pomme. Inside, you’ll find a wall-covering print of two expressionless lip-hovering vixens, one of several eighteen-foot-tall murals by Fadil Berisha. A D.J., in a booth at the back, spins Top-40 remixes that blast the crowd into dancing on assorted elevated surfaces, lit-up nooks in the wall, and on the dance floor. Bottle service is in effect, and the Grey Goose is brought out by black mini-dress-clad girls waving sparklers (the more expensive the tipple, the more sparklers it gets). Admittedly, such gimmicky interspersions make the evening feel like an awesome bar mitzvah party all grown up.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
