This Hell’s Kitchen sports bar challenged by a grim vicinity to both the Port Authority and the Lincoln Tunnel, distinguishes itself with a commitment to gimmicky drinking. There’s the Ice Rail, a frozen, color-shifting tube that runs along the entire length of the bar, through which beers are transported before hitting your glass; the Cobra head, a sleek, white tap head maintained at 26 degrees Fahrenheit (for higher-alcohol-content beers); and the Towers of Power, 120-ounce beer containers. Along with machines dispensing shots of Jäger and Patron and the reoccurring, free-drink giveaway game “ The Wheel” during NFL games, the options for overindulgence are impressive. The bar might not sit well with the traditionalists who know the original Lansdowne Road as the oldest rugby stadium in Dublin, but for this crowd—Giants fans, crusty Tenth Avenue lifers, and an overenthusiastic after-work crowd—it’s just right.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
