Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island; S66 bus to Victory Blvd.-Jewett Ave.
A neighborhood bar located on an asphalt slash of Chinese restaurants, tanning salons, and pizza places, Legend’s Pub is big, sparse, and ready to party. The Harley Davidsons out front, parked in the neon glow of beer signs, belong to the regulars. (And we do mean regulars; most patrons probably tried their first fake ID at Legends.) Inside, an assortment of Staten Island lifers—metalheads, carpenters, real-estate agents, Giants fans—co-exist peacefully. The soundtrack is hard, fast, and tried-and-true: GNR, AC/DC, Leppard. The linoleum tile floor and bare-bones wooden bar leave something to be desired, but most of the focus is the pool table in the back, or the darts action up front: three boards, ready for league play. Victory plaques are proudly displayed, so bring your game. For those who take more than cream in their coffee, Legends opens at 9am.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
