Brooklyn restaurateur Jim Mamary reopened the former Fly Fish space as Lincoln Park Tavern in spring 2010. The new incarnation still serves food—a short all-day menu offers mixed bar fare like burgers and empanadas—but Lincoln Park is decidedly a bar first. The change is welcome for a neighborhood with surprisingly few bar and restaurant options. The décor is now decidedly adult: A white-tiled bar and a few solitary vintage signs replace the eclectic clutter of the old mariner-themed spot. The patrons, however, are mostly still a crowd of neighborhood locals—teachers who stop in for a drink after school lets out, musicians who come by late at night, pool players, and anyone else who just wants a reliable shot of whiskey and a beer.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
