The fact that Lips is known for its drag queens and famous for its Bitchy Bingo on Wednesday nights pretty much says it all. Hot pink walls are covered in hyper-femme paraphernalia like platform stilettos, mannequin legs, tutus, oversized gems, and dozens of headshots autographed by famous cross-dressers and transvestites. Bachelorettes, birthday brats, and tourists eat up the intentional tackiness along with the restaurant's standard Italian fare. At the small bar, mixologists with names like Frankie Cocktail seem plucked straight out of The Birdcage with their muscular figures, huge bouffant wigs and caked-on make-up. When they’re not pouring frozen margaritas and cosmos, they too parade around lip-synching Dionne Warwick and other rock-star divas. Ah, the look of love. — Yael Kohen
