From the guys behind Village Pourhouse and SideBar, this "contemporary brewhouse" pays tribute to New York State, bringing the best of small town flavor to the heart of the big city (a.ka. Union Square). Dark woodwork, hand-built butcher tables, and subway tiles decorate the rural-meets-urban space, where all the food and booze is locally-sourced, with twenty tap lines pouring the likes of Sixpoint, Capt. Lawrence, and Ithaca; most drafts and bottles are priced at a reasonable $6 a pop. There's even a fun wall map of the Empire State, plotting all the brew-points with brand stickers. The menu features rustic comfort foods like Buffalo wings (four ways) and a classic Rueben, with rotating daily specials that take a tour of different regions, like Rochester for the Garbage Plate or Long Island for the raw bar.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
