The Mad Hatter is a well-executed, yet otherwise typical sports bar catering to the cleaner-cut, dressed-to-impress Murray Hill Scene. There’s not nearly as many Lewis Carroll artifacts as the name might suggest: standard mirrors frosted with logos, framed jerseys, flat-screens, and other sporting paraphernalia dot the interior instead. A cozy little patio opens up outside, and there are just enough folding chairs to relax amid the glow of midtown. A bar menu offers the standard wings and things (nachos, sliders, etc), and curry chips are a nice touch, acknowledging the area’s “Curry Hill” location. There’s a pretty decent selection of beers on tap; rotating specials and a happy hour highlight ‘tini’s and doctored cocktails.
