Drag queens and other downtown celebrities (like drag king Murray Hill and Alan Cumming) favor this cozy Bowery bar, but even the scrawniest starving artists look fabulous in the disco-ball light, surrounded by the darling little photos, pictures, and plates that line the walls.

Extra

In an unfortunate redecorating decision, Marion's beloved signed plates were moved from behind the bar to the very top of the walls, so you've gotta crane your neck to distinguish Spike Lee's autograph from Christina Ricci's.

A wonderful surprise everytime

They always talk about Marion's cocktails, which are fabulous and inventive. And they always talk about the casual retro surroundings. But I find Marion's to always have surprisingly great food and a menu that changes and keeps up with the times. I have been going there for years and it is never stale. They keep some of their classic dishes like Steak au Poivre and their "one of the best" Caesar Salad. When I bring a vegan or an Atkins eater they always dine well. My question to Marion's is how, after these many years, do you keep up the good vibe, great atmosphere, good food and make me and my guests feel so comfortable?
