If not for the bar flanking the narrow room and the cocktail mentioned in the space’s name, you could easily mistake this lounge for a cozy coffeehouse. Sofas and small tables line a brick wall; displayed works by local painters and photographers change every month. Open since 2002, Martini Red is as an artistic hub for Stapleton residents. Though weekly events feature eclectic D.J. sets and poets have been known to hog the open mic, the real draw is homegrown talent rocking out in the adjoining performance space. Clearly the owners take pride in not booking cover bands. On the off chance you do hear a band playing your favorite Smashing Pumpkins song, don’t be afraid to pick up your $2.50 PBR and mosh. You won’t be alone.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
