Chic sales reps and snappy advertising associates converge on this singles club in massive numbers to hook up and burn some of that pesky cash burning holes through their pockets. Weekends, a D.J. mixes deafening—and crowd-thrilling—Top 40 while a plasma TV displays in-sync music videos. The Irish family that owns this place keeps to their formula—upscale sports bar—and it works like a charm. TVs? Yes, but better: The bar has five huge pull-down screens with digital projectors that light them up with games. With most surfaces covered in black, the dark space is lit almost exclusively by the big screen glow and by the changing neon colors illuminating the liquor shelves. The narrow front bar widens into a back room, crammed with high round tables. The kitchen cooks up posh appetizers like pesto chicken potato skins in addition to a wide range of dressed-up bar fare like quesadillas, wings and sandwiches. All the while, bartenders with winter tans as if fresh from Miami give you your drink and a wink. More than one young lady in designer jeans and lethal heels will wink back, too. Let the games begin.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
