White Zinfandel, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. Those are your choices for whites by the glass at this vast expanse of yellow walls and wood. But it doesn’t seem to matter, since it’s Happy Hour and this crowd is all about the half-priced Buds. Unfortunately, cheap beer is about all Metro 53 has to its credit. Service is friendly but laughably inattentive (particularly when there are usually only a handful of people here); the music is strictly old Dave Matthews (which seems to suit the fresh-out-of-college crew just fine); and the sheer size of the place makes it incredibly loud (though it’s nothing compared with the now-closed Upper Deck Bar, their sister spot, which used to be next door). Places like this are a dime a dozen in this hood, and virtually indistinguishable from one another. But maybe one of the other joints has even cheaper Bud? We say, it's worth skipping this one to find out.
NoteDuring football season Metro opens early on Saturday and Sunday for games.
