As the name might suggest, Midnight Blue's signature feature is the glowing blue light that emanates from within and around the bar area, but those jazzy special effects are about as exciting as it gets at this otherwise unremarkable bar and café. Beyond the loosely Italian-themed cuisine is a mostly nondescript drink list whose specialties include the chocolate martini and the strawberry margarita. The menu calls special attention to the Cosmopolitan, which it declares "a New York Classic" as a helpful tip for the grab bag of errant tourists and curious neighbors who find themselves here. The place itself is rather spacious, with ample seating at the tables in the dining room and out on the sidewalk, where the pomegranate sangria is a popular order. At the bar, two flat-screen TVs ensure there's always a sports fan or two fastened to their blue-light-bathed stools.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
