So far uptown it almost qualifies as upstate, this Colombian dive bar would be a gigantic hit if it were lowered into the midst of the Lower East Side. As it stands, it's a comfortable hideaway to get your borracho on, packing a happy hour that would make any hipster swoon: $2 drink and beer specials from 5 to 6pm nightly. The walls are a lively paint job of red, white, and green, the jukebox swarms with Mexican mariachi and Dominican bachata hits, and the shot glasses are practically the size of small jars. The scene, including the bartenders, is almost entirely Hispanic, so it can be helpful to know the language a bit. That being said, the place is very welcoming to non-native speakers. And besides, beer, pool, and Ms. Pac-Man? That's universal.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
