Mondrian Soho
|
Located in the Mondrian Soho hotel, this old-world-inspired lounge—created by Armin Amiri, who brought Socialista to the West Village—is a vision of thirties Beijing, with Chinese characters, found objects, birdcages, throw rugs and beaded curtains strewn about for decoration. The specialty cocktails—the Flying Dagger, Jasmine Pearl, and Horny Goat Weed Chaser—all manage to underscore the attitude of playful kitsch. Otherwise, Mister H is classic nightclub: a DJ (oftentimes Mia Moretti) spins tracks, and the prices on the bottle service menu could inspire a Seinfeldian rant or two. Also, there’s no official dress code, but the door can be pretty selective, so dress up and try to get your name on the list.
