Apologies to Frank's Lounge, but Moe's has emerged as the quintessential Fort Greene bar: it's low-key, casual, comfortable, a little bit funky, and frequented by a crowd so heartwarmingly racially mixed they should shoot an after-school special here. Neighborhood residents in their twenties and thirties flock to Moe's nightly on their way home from the office; BAM-goers similarly rely on the place as the ideal pre- or post-show watering hole to enjoy one of nine draft beers or the kind of specialty cocktail that comes across as precious in downtown Manhattan but kitschy at Moe's. Kitsch is also the word for the good-condition thrift-store furnishings that fill the lounge's two levels. The laidback, sexy energy makes Moe's an inevitable hook-up spot, but be careful: You will see that one-night stand at the bar here again. — Matt Dobkin
