589 Fort Washington Ave.,

The area immediately surrounding the corner of 187th and Fort Washington has markedly midtown aspirations: Anomalous apartment buildings come equipped with security guards; generic modern art pops up here and there to assuage any downtown transplants. And while this casually classy bar is hardly typical to the neighborhood, its crowd definitely is, as post-work suits speaking Spanish and T-shirted postgrads jostle each other on the large patio or in a dimly lit room that, thanks to its dark-red molded ceiling, feels like a bordello. There's nothing outrageous being served on the premises, though, just fish and pasta entrées from Bleu Evolution next door.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
