The sprawling 50-foot bar may be tightly packed with 20-somethings screaming and cheering at Yankees or Knickerbockers on projection TVs, but Mo's isn't one of the cookie-cutter pubs lining upper Second Avenue: Plastic palm trees abound while fish, surfboards and neon wave lights hang on the walls. Even if the menu at this island-themed shack concentrates on not-exactly-tropical fajitas, burritos, and chimichangas, jerk chicken is also served at the bar and at the surrounding dining room tables. Furthermore, the Caribbean Junkie (a lethal dose of vodka and fruit schnapps spiked with juice) has been known to induce an island party mood. Each day has a themed special; weekends give way to day-long drinking fests with beer pong tournaments and deeply-discounted tacos and pints. The rear Havana Room is an upscale Cuban-themed lounge with dark wood and comfy wicker furniture that is available for private parties.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
