This spot is a homier location from the people behind Daddy’s, the go-to Graham-L-stop bar. Just four blocks down from its other half, this is not your typical rage-all-night 'Burg bar. Instead, Mother's exudes an effortless but decidedly low-key appeal: six reasonably priced microbrews on tap, including the borough's own Six Point and Long Island's Blue Point, and plenty of comfort food (try the bison burger with sweet-potato fries). Rich-brown walls, a faux fireplace, and a smoothed oak bar echo the hearthy, family-den vibe; the alt-country/indie-rock soundtrack is played low enough that chatting with your stool mate or one of the shaggy-haired bartenders is an easy enough endeavor. The half-covered backyard is a big draw for social smokers come summertime.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
