John DeLutro’s (of cannoli-haus Caffe Palermo) Mulberry Street speakeasy pulls from a grab bag of Italian and Prohibition clichés, with walls lined with wine-barrel ends and a glass panel etched with an acid-green Tommy gun. A mirrored window lets the bartender vet approaching guests and buzz them into the basement bar where Jersey Shore hopefuls are downing cocktails and munching on dressed-up bar food like risotto balls at the start (or, depending on the hour, the end) of a long night out.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
