If pounding shots (or one of more than 30 beers) with a raucous crowd beneath the glow of 24 televisions is your idea of a good Saturday night, head over to Nevada Smith’s, on the Western fringes of the East Village. The liquor selection is extensive and not too expensive ($7 for well, $7 for some imported pints), and a tiny dance floor is packed on weekends with post-collegiate sorority girls and investment-banker types grinding to mainstream dance classics like “Baby Got Back.” Game days draw fans of British football (that’s soccer, for you Yanks) and judging from the jerseys on the wall, Manchester United is a favorite.
NoteNevada Smith's hours are dictated by the broadcast schedule of English and International soccer. During the week the bar opens about 1 hour before the start of the day's first match, but the exact time will vary slightly throughout the year.
