Norwood, a five-floor private club populated by various creative types, is located in an elegant 1845 townhouse. In its present day incarnation, it features a relaxed downstairs lounge, open during the day, that serves as a casual (you know, past that whole membership-requirement thing) locale to meet a friend for a drink, a cappuccino, or a dish of crispy fries (cooked up by Top Chef alum Andrew D’Ambrosi). The racier, more opulent Salon on the third floor, has more of an arts-crowd-meets-boudoir vibe; when D.J.s aren’t spinning, members can pick out their own tunes to blast through the strong sound system—or pick up a guitar and make their own noise.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
