An offshoot of the wine store Olivino, located three doors down, Bar Olivino comfortably seats a baker’s dozen, despite its modest dimensions. Extremely casual as far as wine bars go, the space aims to be a neighborly after-work gathering point that comfortably hosts both dressed-up professionals and locals in flip-flops craving prosciutto. There’s a mellow white-on-raw-wood décor, a series of intriguing nightly bottle deals, and a wine list that forgoes the “big ten” grapes for more obscure varieties, many starting at a very agreeable $6 per glass. Meanwhile, a long, crowded bar encourages communal chatter.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
