Did Onyx get lost on the way to Murray Hill? Nestled between cozy restaurants and bars on a quiet Village street, this sleek, sexy bar has become a nightly happy hookup destination for 20-something singles. The thirsty come for the wide array of drink specials (like the ladies-drink-free deal on Wednesday nights); the hungry chow down on the pan-Asian and American menu offerings, and the dancing queens hit the floor with a live funk band on Mondays or for DJ-spun tunes all weekend. The rest of the crowd flirts and chats in the blue-hued front room before pairing up among the candelit tables and comfy couches in the back lounge—a room that's seen more than its share of drunken make-out sessions. The place is also open to private parties and guest bartenders, but given how accommodating the in-house staff is, it would be a real shame to see them go. — Lucy Cohen
