Sidewalk seating and fast and frequent drink specials ($5 top-shelf cocktails; two-for-one beers) are the sole draws of this generic Midtown haunt. The bar itself is a dank space with an odd autumn-colored paint job and dull wooden floors. The room benefits, if only slightly, from more forgiving lighting that diminishes as the evening progresses—the ambience-equivalent to beer goggles. Gaggles of girls and guys benefiting from the darkness and rapid alcohol consumption, flock to each other for late-night mating rituals. A few plasma screens scattered around the bar keep sport lovers put, but outdoor seats offer a fresh alternative when things get too funky inside.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
