Profile

The interior of Orient Express evokes more the 1974 mystery film version of the locomotive than the original. Roller-shaded faux windows line the wood paneled walls. Decadent trim and dim lighting add to the smoking-car-esque atmosphere. The music—jazz from the 20s, 30s, and 40s—plays softly in the background while locals wind down from a long day at the office, but plenty of folks drop by alone to chat with the friendly, accented bartenders and flirt with fellow barflies. Drinks and small plates follow the theme with names like “The Agatha” and “Herkules.” The chef creates a new and inventive house syrup with fresh ingredients each night, which is then used throughout the drink menu, like strawberry sage or ginger lime. While delicious, sweet, and refreshing, the syrups make the ample liquor poured into each drink undetectable, so take it easy, or that smoothie will have you on the floor by the end of the night.
