Profile

Even though it's been renovated and renamed since its days as Turtle Bay Cafe, overlook maintains an authentic, divey patina—an increasing rarity in this neighborhood. While die-hard regulars from the old establishment still keep spots at the bar, the majority of pint swillers are younger after-work professionals who mingle around the pool table or watch sports on one of 25 televisions. Enormous booths in the back make this a great place to bring an entire sales team or political club, but with overlook's friendly, low-key vibe, your group will be mixing it up in no time.

Extra

A back wall is covered with original drawings by cartoonists like Mad Magazine’s Al Jaffee and Beetle Bailey's Mort Walker.

There are lots of pubs around here, or bars in fancy steak houses, but not "neighborhood bar" type places. It is never crowded when I go here on the weekends. Weekdays, sure... the after work crowd from Midtown (and lots of folks from Pfizer, I'd suspect). But, there is a great upstairs which is quieter with tables for bar food and a second bar, and also a GREAT new deck on the back open in all reasoable weather. I DON'T find it a meatmarket, but I also tend not to hang down by the billiards and sports broadcasts... more likely to go upstairs or outside and catch up with a friend.

Best karaoke in NYC!!!!

Went last Tuesday night and had a great time. The song list is incredible! I couldn't think of a single song they didn't have! Great sound system and the DJ took the time to adjust the mix for each singer. Will definitely be back.
