A painted Olive Garden-style wall mural circa 1943 and a couple of mounted plastic fish comprise the finer details of this bar’s décor, but the regulars—many of whom have made drinking here a full-time occupation—don’t fill the numerous booths or bar stools because they’re looking for ambiance. Joined by itinerant customers killing time before a concert at the nearby Beacon Theater, these locals are simply gathering for a beer while watching sports on the television. Oddly, prices are more Eli’s than Fairway: A glass of wine or a mixed drink costs the same as it would at a more well-heeled establishment. — Lucy Cohen
