Located across from the Museum of Natural History’s scenic back lawn, and sandwiched between some of the area’s more notable restaurants (Dovetail, Shake Shack, Ocean’s Grill), the legendary P&G Corner Café’s latest digs—it was forced to move up five blocks in spring of ’09 when its lease expired—is still a stop worth making. Although the below-ground entrance is more discreet than its former, bar regulars have no problem finding the new address. Upon entering the wooden French doors, patrons (who begin to trickle in not long after noon) encounter a large, clunky bar where familiar faces still serve moderately priced glasses of wine, beer, and mixed drinks. A photo-hunt machine, modern jukebox, dartboard, and pool tables serve as the weekday entertainment, but on the weekends, the Café hosts live music, and the dining space turns into a dance floor, where you'll find the crowd really gets going.
