Hidden behind a tacky sign and a set of shady stairs is Park Slope Billiards, an expansive basement bar with about twenty-plus pool tables that is an official member of the American Poolplayers Association. The bar’s billiards club hosts open tournaments on Sunday and Thursday, and APA members get 20 percent off of an already decently priced game of pool ($9 for a two players, $14 for four). The place is by no means fancy, and the action tends to pick up later in the night, when neighborhood regulars refuel with the small selection of cheap beers and the pub grub menu until the bar’s 4 a.m. closing. — Zachary Wilson
