A warm atmosphere compensates for cookie-cutter Irish décor at this spotless Midtown joint. While easy-listening tunes drift above a dozen or so candlelit tables and a backdrop of dark wood and brick, stained glass, brass railings, and random wall hangings, neighborhood professionals and retirees generate a convivial buzz at the polished wooden bar. The restaurant in the back room offers a full menu that hops from seafood dishes, like the seared sesame seed-crusted tuna, to steak, and traditional pub grub, like shepherd’s pie. A collection of ceramic steins and some paintings of hunting scenes add further color as do sports glowing silently on four TVs. Otherwise, the only distraction is the quaint groaning of an antique cash register, as it rings up bar tabs.
