Hit or Miss at Peasant

I've been to Peasant several times and more often than not, I have a pleasant time--which I believe is a result of good company, not necessarily service. I certainly didn't witness racism but I was belittled on my last visit for asking one of the employees to toss my cup of Dean and DeLuca tea while sitting at the bar waiting for a table (out of respect for the establishment) and the meek waiter/busboy mumbled, This is a waste of money, you know... Thanks, so is everything on the menu. He dismissed our party the rest of the evening (we disregarded his attitude). The other waiter is wildly degrading to every customer--regardless of provocation. If the place is empty--you will have a nice time--packed not so much. When the delightful waitress is working, the experience is great, regardless of crowd size. Your impression may depend on the disposition of the staff. Go with fun and open minded friends and rely on your group to dictate the mood at your table--not the staff.
