Profile

In October 2002, a Parisian-style bi-level bar opened in an old piano shop without bothering to change the sign. Since then, it's been sucking multitudes of chic rock-and-roll scenesters out of Brooklyn and back down to the Lower East Side, forcing jaded locals to hole up at nearby Max Fish and bitch (yet again) about the unwelcome invasion—before trickling down the block themselves once they're good and drunk.

Long Island Iced Tea

Arpenney from 10022 | Posted on 9/26/08

Overall Rating: 8 (Recommended)

The bouncer was friendly, the place was crowded but fun, the DJ was so great, and the long island iced teas were to die for... plus, if you want a change of scenery, you just have to walk 4 feet to the next bar.

I always have a great time at Pianos!

I live in the neighborhood and came across Pianos a couple of years back. If I want to go out but I'm not sure where to go, I know I can always hit up Pianos. Great music, casual atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, incredible burgers (try the red wine burger!) and it's an easy place to meet people. It's just $8 or $10 to see a whole night's worth of live music (great deal!) and there is no cover charge if all you want to do is hang out in the front room and have some drinks. If it's crowded, you can always go upstairs to the lounge and catch the DJ d'jour. Next time you're in the LES and are looking for a great place to go, definitely hit up Pianos.
