Profile

Bedecked with multicolored lights illuminating its name, Pieces stands out even on Christopher Street. Inside, a bevy of disco balls reflect Christmas lights adorning the walls. Every night's a show, but the equally colorful clientele get a chance to shine at the ever-popular Karaoke Tuesdays, featuring a diverse selection of songs (though not without the requisite Judy and Barbra). For patrons wishing to stay out of the spotlight, there's a pool table in the back, and Liquid Brunch on Saturday through Monday afternoons afford ample opportunities to cruise for a cheap date to go with your cheap drink.

Liquid Brunch

Sat.–Mon., 2 p.m.–8 p.m.; $4 Long Island iced teas and $3 Mimosas, Margaritas and Bloody Marys

Karaoke
Tue., 8 p.m.–4 a.m.; 3rd Sat. of every month, 8 p.m.–4 a.m.

Extra
Tired of Cosmos but can't unwrap your fingers from that Martini glass? Pieces invented the "Neil Drink," a yummy concoction of Midori, Apple Pucker, Blue Curaçao and Raspberry Stoli. This little number has gained such popularity that it's managed to escape its humble origins and make its way into some of the city's swankier establishments.

Firstly, to the reviewer above - thanks for your notes. However what if I'm not into karaoke? Well, Pieces is a neighborhood bar that offers a friendly bartender (Chris) who might not know every drink but definitely tries his best to accommodate (get your minds out of the gutter girls). The bathrooms are VILE so if you have to go... run to the MacDonalds (or Marakas if you're the classier type) around the corner. Its not the cleanest place in the world but at least the drink glasses don't stick. The nightly entertainment is fun and the Karaoke crowd is friendly and supportive. All in all... not a bad place to go with friends and have a cheap drink. NOT a place for a date.

Karaoke at Pieces

Pieces is a Gay Bar. If you don't have a problem with that, then I think it would be fair to say that the Karaoke her is OK. I would have to say, that this place has more than its fair share of talent. They have a very good Sound System, and a good sized Core Library. The drinks are also reasonably priced here. The only drawbacks to the Karaoke here are: A) The KJ will not accept personal CDGs that you bring in for use. B) Most of their Library is loaded into a special machine that does not have a Key Changer. For all of you Karaoke fanatics out there, you know how important a Key Changer can be.
