Profile

Top Chef alum Leah Cohen helms this Southeast Asian-inspired bistro tucked along the LES that specializes in deliciously scorching Thai and Filipino fare. You may be risking a runny nose when you sample the piquant khao soi, made with red curry, coconut milk, chicken, egg noodles, pickled mustard greens and shallots but thankfully that’s where their cocktails come in. Order the Mr. Horchata, a mix of allspice rum, coconut milk, horchata, and demerara syrup) for an antidote to all that heat found in the food. For lighter tipples, try the Ginpo, a blend of gin, grapefruit, cinnamon, and prosecco or the Stink Peat, made of chamomile rye and elderflower with a scotch rinse. Between Monday-Wednesday, Chef Cohen prepares a five-course tasting menu for $45 and in warmer months, a cool downtown crowd may be found dining and drinking al fresco in the restaurant’s backyard.
