Journalist Thomas Hudson originally planned to enter the bar business on the Upper East Side, but he decided that a quiet corner in Brooklyn was a better setting for his laid-back neighborhood wine-bar concept. Pinkerton sits on the corner of a residential block, away from the more hectic Williamsburg thoroughfares. Inside, Hudson keeps it simple, relying on dark wood and candles to create a cozy atmosphere in which to sip some of Pinkerton’s “New World” wines—Australian and West Coast bottles dominate the list. (Beer-drinkers have their pick of microbrew bottles.) In warmer weather, oenophiles can enjoy their selection on the sidewalk patio.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
